– James Clifford, Riordan class of 1956
“The book follows the authors and their buddies through grade school and high school. I loved the heavy attention to their experiences when studying and growing up in San Francisco, ripe for the pickings for adventure and exploration. However, not everything was sunshine and butterflies and the authors left nothing out, such as, loss of cultural identities, rapid amounts of bullying, racial problems, adult prejudices, the lonliness of being gay, and the ruination of alcohol. It showed the cold truth of their childhood and it showed me their mental strength and growth. This is a great down to earth book for everyone, exploring the experiences of three kids in the 1940s and 1950s.”
– Jameson Datoc, Riordan class of 2023
